Toon Van Hal
Toon Van Hal studied classical
and oriental languages at K.U. Leuven, Universtität Tübingen, Université
Catholique de Louvain la Neuve. He obtained his doctoral degree in linguistics
with a dissertation on the methodology, epistemology and ideology of precomparative
linguistics during the Renaissance, with particular attention paid to the
contribution of the Dutch humanists (supervisors: proff. L. Isebaert &
P. Swiggers).
A postdoctoral fellow
of the Fund for Scientific Research - Flanders (K.U. Leuven), he is currently
working on precomparative and missionary linguistics (1600-1800).
